GOD STILL CARES .. (17th PART) OF WHEN GOD GUIDES...

Some envious people in our congregation developed vengeance towards us for no cause.  They felt we had bought this place for our own purpose to enjoy ourselves, They wrote typed letters telling brother Joe that we are on his sister party  I know who typed those letters, and who posted them by registered post , still I forgave them for which reason God rewarded me abundantly..
This came to our notice and  known to us, we respected Mrs kamala   just as daughter of N. Daniel and sister of the most loved brother that is br. joe.  but we were taken to task, my husband  was rebuked in front of every one in stuvartpuram meetings, and humiliated telling him
"what type of evangelist you are ? do you have any training in Beaulah gardens?
My husband was depressed very much. He was not able to take this lightly. Whether sis kamala told her brother that we do not have any part in it or not, we do not know.

But we were threatened that the ministry we were doing will be burnt by him once he came and see what all that was going on.
We could not utter one single word against the children of God.  neither she consoled us , she was saying only her brother listens to the first reports whatever , good or bad and would not heed any body.

This was a strange thing for us, we never knew that they had rift in between the brother and sister of Daniel's family. we silently suffered much , as a result my husband got the first heart attack ,soon after he met Br. Joe.

How much he suffered I only knew. but we did not say any thing. we silently suffered all that humiliation.  after three years he got the second heart attack and he left us in a second.

It was 2003, my beloved left me for the abode of heaven , three years passed away, the garden which we tended was in destruction, the trees dried up, the vegetables were not grown any more, there were no more flowers blossoming in my garden.

My son joined in Loyola college in vijayawada, once in a month I was visiting him. I was crying in the heart, at that moment one brother from lef came to see me.

I said to him, " i feel I cannot maintain this house, The remembrances of him and those good days are too much for me, wish I could sell it go away from here"   he insisted whether I meant it truly, I said of course I mean it.

But instead of stopping me to think like that, he said if at all you want to sell it, sell it to lef,"
"  I said , yes I think they are the better people to use it"
he insisted, "shall i inform them?"

"of course you can.'

I was in deep distress, instead of telling me not to take any haste decisions, within a few days, I got letters from br.joe, advising me to sell the house and go to any apartment. he also offered the amount as 20lakhs and he said he would pay it in two instlaments.

I was shocked, I felt ashamed of myself. I said sorry to them who brought that letter to me said i did not have any intention of selling.
but they did not leave me with that. They again and again came, including Suresh, marcus , Priyanadh and Mohan rao, persisting that I better sell the house and go away from here.

It continued till 2012. I was disgusted with these people. How dare they are to pursue a widow to give away the only dwelling place ?  I said just forget this proposal and I will not sell the house.
just after two days, i saw this man Suresh marcus was constructing a wall opposite the door through whcih i go into the prayer center, later it turned up into a baptistery. I was shocked and felt humiliated, wept.

This year that 2014 suddenly I met
Mr. Mrs Joe in the month of Januavary, I asked them why they built it like that, they had no answer for my questions.
I left them to the Lord, whoever be behind all this drama, I know one thing, God will not leave us nor forsake us.

The world is the way it is because there are fewer people who can see the truth the way it is while there are crowds who cry foul every time they see some thing that shakes their belief in what they think is the truth. By the way, was your account of how LEF tried to grab your house preposterous or our comments preposterous?

When_God_Guides Prayer House: 9B

                     Prayer House: 9B

When my husband was telling me the incident happened that day with that stranger in His office, I saw the hand of God, and the fulfillment of the promise He had given to me Numbers 32:24 and an answer to those three days fasting prayer in my house.

This is promise for the ministry here, in Eluru, the place which was in His thoughts was revealed to me in 1985 and it was taking place in reality in 1997 after 12 years of the period of time.

The next day we had contacted the one who was in charge of HQ She told us that she would come and see the place as she was conducting Children Retreat in Vijayawada .

When Mrs Kamala Paul , daughter of Mr. N. Daniel the founder of the LEF and sister of the President Joshua Daniel and In charge of HQ of Lef centers in India, gave her consent to come and see the place, we were happy to receive her.

No sooner she and Maryamma of Singhnagar  arrived, even that gentleman and the script writer, we all went to see the place behind our house. We walked through the road which was around the place.
Once we reached there the elders of the place/slum started to shout at us saying that the place has no approaching road, and that they were not willing to give any road to it through their slum.

They were illiterate and all most drunkards, and their shouts were so frightening, I was afraid to stand along with the group of our friends, I slipped a bit away from them and stood in a corner nearby a wall and a hut ,observing them.
Then a woman from the thatched house where I stood came out and said," Leelamma garu, what you are here?"
Immediately  I recognized her , as Chaya,(her name was sai, but I used to call her as Chaaya, who worked in our house as a helper, and her mother and grandmother too worked in previous years.
I said to her, "What chaya, is this your house? we came to buy the place here to construct a Prayer house, and why these people were shouting like that?"

She told me, that transactions on that place to buy had never been materialized since 50 years, even Maganti Ravindhranath choudhary came to establish a factory there but the elders of this slum area did not allow them to build any thing here.  But I will try to tell them now that it is for you and to build a prayer house."Thus saying she took the lead and ...
She at once shouted to her pitch of her throat,

"Oh Kameswarrawa, you know this place is for Leelamma garu, not for any one else, think of it, and do sell it to them"She called her husband by name and told him, as he was one of the elders of the slum area.

I donot know what happened later, but the two groups of people came to an amicable solution like payment of some amount for the way to approach the gate of the place to the elders of the slum to build a community hall , say 18000 rupees, and then and there everything settled and we proceeded to our home.

On the way back home Mrs. Kamala paul asked my husband, "What do you think brother? How much rate we could bargain with them?

He answered,' Ask for Rs. 500/ per sq yard sister"

I overheard their conversation, and my heart jumped up and down in speed,
' What ? how can they ask him like this for such low price? two years back it was rs 800/- now 500/-? on what basis?     ooph the party will not give us this site and they will go away, just because they came all the way to sell it for us, should not take advantage of them, at least it should be Rs750/ or 700/-. ' I thought very perfectly.

I called my husband aside, and talked to him thus. After hearing my pleas, he said, " You do not know Leela, you do not speak any thing now."

Saying thus he joined sister Kamala on our way home.

When he says, 'you do not know Leela' I dare not to speak any further, it was my habit of not arguing with him . So I kept quiet and while sulking in my heart I followed them to home.

They settled in the front room in sofas, I got coffee ready quickly and served them, and I dare not to sit with them , as Kamalakka was there, so I hide myself behind the curtain, and keenly listening to them.

            I heard, Kamalakka politely asking
" Sir, How about if we ask you to sell it for Rs. 500/- per sq yard?"

My heart stopped to pump the blood, my whole body became so cold, I thought this would be the end of the transaction.

But I heard the gentleman answering her,  at the same time I lifted up the Bible which was on the table behind the curtain where I was standing and listening to them.

I just took it with my both hands and opened and looked into it, still keenly listening to his answer, I could not believe my own eyes for what I saw in it,
The Book was opened at Ezra 6 chapter and I found myself reading the last verse in it,

"....the Lord had filled them with joy by changing the attitude of the king of Assyria, so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel."

I was reading at the same time I was rejoicing while reading and also I heard the voice of the
 Mr. Subramanyam Choudhary, saying

," Mam can you say another rate for this?"  His voice was polite and gentle.

I was following their conversation not leaving my eyes glued to the verse I read just then,

She said, ' Sir, how about Rs,550/-?"

I was in a magic maze when I heard the answer from the man,  he said,' Mam, actually this place belong to me and my two sisters, one is a lecturer and another is a doctor, Tonight I will call them and talk to them about the rate, and surely I will try to give you less rate than you asked for"

What ? No one can believe their ears. The owner /seller telling us that he would try to give the place for lesser price than we asked for? Is it a dream?  No no the Lord of the earth, who had promised me that the heart of the king Assyrian changed the situation.

There were wide grins on the faces of everybody.  He also was telling,' "Mam one thing more, I will cut and clean  all those thorny bushes, and send some trucks of gravel to fill it and clean the ground, and cut all those palm trees, and give it to you the best way possible."

Can you imagine what was really going on there, in that place? I was shocked, we were shocked, how come he would do all this for the house of God,  he being a heathen how can he do this for us, unless God changed his attitude?

Further he said, 'Mam, Mr Yesuratnam is a rare person, his life is a challenge to me, one thing I want to tell you, and seek your permission to do so, because he would not give permission to me" he laughed.
( Testimony and Witness can be given by any one, but only the life which was sanctified by God will be a blessing to many and it would have power in it )

Kamalakka asked him to proceed, and he said

" You are building a prayer house in that place, I myself want to give Rs.10000/ as my part to build it, and I will get some palm leaves too for your roof"

My husband immediately said, " Sir, we will take that amount into accounts and give the receipt too."

" I know you would do it so.." he laughed and everybody does.  I did not understand much of the underlying meaning in it.. but my heart was light as a feather..

We could not believe of what was going on there. The God of Abraham, the God of Jacob, The God of Isaac was there in that room, He was there in this transaction.

Do you know how much was the rate , which was fixed by him that night after he talked to his sisters? It was for 525/- per sq yard. The cost of the whole land of 1200 sq yards was Rs. 600000/-approx.

Is not this the HAND of God which parted the RED SEA to the Israelite to go through? Do you think only in those days God did miracles of such and not now?

How can our christian pastors come and beg for money to build their churches leaving this astonishing Great God? Not trusting Him and begging the human beings for the fund?  Who is your Boss?  One pastor said, "my boss is so and so who come from USA"

Be careful , do not make our big God as a small idol which heathen keep it in a shelf or a room and worship.  He is not , He is the God of  heavens and  sea and dry land like Jonah said, in first chapter verse 9th.

We have to feel ashamed of ourselves if we do not prove this God in our lives, He is able to do anything, and we can see His hand in everything.

WHEN_GOD_GUIDES_9A: Prayer House

Prayer House: 9A

The promise I got in Railway quarters, Numbers 32:24 was fulfilled only half of it so far.  When Ruebenites and Gadites told Moses that they do not want to cross the Jordan but would like to settle this side of the river to build towns for their women and children; and build pens for their sheep, Moses , at last agreed to their plea when they promised that they would not neglect the battles,

Taking that promise I went back to Eluru, joined my little children in St.Theresa's Elementary School with big buildings and good administration.  Later I claimed the same promise and bought the house in Ashoknagar with His promise and guidance.

Though we had the status to build a new home, or buy a new flat or house, we did not go for those, because God told me to buy this old building, that too part of a house.  Our rooms in our house would be like Railway Train compartments one after the other, with a little piece of vacant land at the back and right side of the house, a place for the car garage, and for little kitchen garden and outside bath and toilets, and water reservoir at the back.

I do not lack any thing in this house,  We built room with a slab roof in the year 1996,  we used that room for the kitchen.  When the steps were built I went up to the terrace and saw a big vacant site adjacent to my back compound wall.  It has a small parapet wall which can be crossed or jumped over by any one. Beyond that I saw small dirty huts, and kachda paths. Every one were throwing their dirt and dust into this vacant site, as it was full of thorny bushes, and dirty water and pigs.

Even we or our nieghbours who were adjacent to that vacant place were doing the same, throwing the dirt from the houses into the place.   But I looked at the place with different eyes, I felt that this must be the place God wanted to give us to build 'pens for the sheep'

We were made to be in charge of the LEF branch in Eluru since 1985,  and we did not have a proper place to have our Sunday worship. We started to have worship in  our house, and  in (late) Chandrayya house, later in Mr. Jacob house, which was converted into a school later.

We were put to humiliation many a times with the highly educated owners and we were not welcomed into their houses many a times. Reasons may be umpteen, which I knew partially but never gave any heed to their pride.

The pride of the owners became unbearable certain times, as not only we but even the congregations were had that burnt of humiliation. As we were undergoing all this humiliation , we felt that we should have a place for the Sunday worship. God gave me eyes of faith to look into the site as a future Worshiping place.   "Pen for your livestock, " ringing in my ears. In my Telugu Bible its written as " a backyard for your sheep"

This adjacent  back yard vacant place was in my mind, therefore. I asked my husband to go back and enquaire about the place, like how much it costs etc.
We both had the best jobs,  he was working in ntra Government  and me with UGC(University Grants Commission)We had bulk salaries, besides, we could go for loans to buy THIS land. But never that thought came to our minds. We were happy and content with the house God had given to us.   Buying lands, and gold was not in our dictionary. We bought this house because we were in dire need of a shadow, a roof on our heads.  But apart from it buying lands or sites, or houses was not our desire.  If at  all we had such mind we would had purchased that place by taking a loan from the bank which would be no problem as they promised me that they would give some lakhs  of rupees if only we go for vacant site.

But we never never had such a idea, or interest in acquiring  properties.Earning property, buying gold , was not our priority list. Instead we used to spend more on music cassettes, message cassettes, and books, biographies  etc. What we invested then was a foundation stone to the character of my children.  We still have a mini library in our house. The Tin shed was replaced by a little room for the books, with an attached bath room and space for a bed , we constructed this in the year 2000 January after 6 years of our purchase of the house.

I was persisting my husband to go and find about that place for the Sunday Worship.

When he went back into that slum area the people showed a broker who would be a mediator between the seller and buyer.  He said, there was 1200 square yards place and each square yard costs Rs. 800/-

When my husband brought that piece of information, we both thought, the HQ would not give their consent to buy this place. As it would cost approximately Rs.1000000/-Therefore we kept quiet.

But there was no rest in my heart. God told me He would give a 'backyard for our sheep'. Was it not look like just as a 'pen for the sheep'? with its short walls, and so much of greenary though they were thorny bushes;  I felt this must be the place for Sunday worship.

My husband went for a Work camp in BG,  I was at home with little children,  so I called upon the praying women of the Fellowship, to wail and shed tears for a place to worship.  We fasted and prayed for three days. later my husband came from the Retreat and went to the AEN  office where he worked.( The story how he got transfer to Eluru after 12 years of his toil by shuttling between Eluru and Vijayawada was another miracle wrought by God in our lives.  Walking with God needs Faith,  walking with God and having a family , begetting sons and daughters and living on this earth requires FAITH,  faith that works every minute of our lives. Faith without deeds is not Faith means,  in our lives in every occasion we need to depend on God to do any thing. Do anything is nothing but DEEDS,  That is the meaning Faith with Deeds.)

After the work camp he reported to his duty in South Central Railway AEN Office.  That evening he came and told me some wonderful  news.   " Leela, do you know what had happened today in my office?"

I was all in ears to listen to him , because my husband a man of a few words telling me something means, I knew it must be of great importance.

There was a file on my table from DEN office of Vijayawada by the time I went to the office. It was laying there since one week there. As soon as I went into the office I was told to take care of the file immediately as it was a summons order from the higher authorities about some fine has to be be recovered.

While I was going through the file one gentleman who was highly educated with M.Tech academic qualifications, and a wealthy Land Lord of Chetaparru came to meet me.   Because he was fined by the South Central Railway as his sugar factory which was in Hanuman Junctions, 30 kms away from Eluru, and 30kms from Vijayawada,  leaving its residue into the Railway land , and therefore DEN Office of the SC Railway sent summons to this Land Lord to pay some fine.
But those papers were sent to my husband for investigation, and that file was on his table on that particular day, and the owner came to him and said,

" Sir, If you do my work ( showing the file ) fast I will fulfill your "formalities"( bribe)"

Knowing what he meant by 'formalities' my husband did not skip the opportunity to give testimony of his changed life by the Saviour who shed His blood to give us victory over every sin.

My husband, (Tadigiri Yesuratnam )  said, "Sir, I am not that type of person, I work and take my salary, I kept my these two hands Holy in the sight of God, I am a Christian and I never take any bribe.  In fact being a Railway employee I never misused my Pass but bought Season ticket during all my travels to Vijayawada while I was shuttling between Eluru and Vijayawada for 12 years.  I will do your work perfectly, for that you need pay anything."

The gentleman was astonished and asked what does he mean by not misusing the Pass,  my husband answered him that any employee of his cadre receive 3 sets of Passes to go to any place in India to and fro without any charges, and 6 sets of PTOs to travel on 1/4 railway fare. When the employees need to shuttle between the two places, usually they travel by Express trains claiming one of the Passes.  And its an understanding between the TCs and the employee and they would not get the signature of the TC, as once it is signed he cannot travel again on it.  That too the Pass can be used on Express trains, whereas Season Ticket cannot be used on Express trains.  So I traveled on Passenger trains for 12 years, starting at 6 am and reaching at 9;30am  and starting there at 6;30 pm and reaching home around 10;30 pm, though it was too tedious and tiresome for me. ( Actually the train reaches Vijayawada  only 60 kms away in one hour if it is Express train, because he opted for passenger train he was travelling 3 and  1/2 +3 and 1/2  to and fro everyday, in rain or shine.)

The gentleman, by name Mr. Subramanyam choudhary was taken aback by the true testimony of the man in that little office, he immediately said," I apologize for the way I talked to you. "

Later he enquaired why he travelled so many years between these two towns,  for which my husband told him, " My wife is working in St. Theresa's college here, in Eluru."

"Oh , is that, even my own sister Sujatha is working in the same college."

"Is she the Lecturer in Politics? we knew her very well because she is living in a rented use opposite to our  rented house to the next street where we live now our own house."

"Where is your own house now?"

"The very next street to your sister's street,  Tenali Rama  Krishna street,"

       Which house is yours?"

"There is a temple in the entrance of the street, from there 4th house"

"There is a vacant place behind your house, did you see that"?

"Yes Sir,  there is a big vacant place, I know it, in fact I tried to buy it for our worshiping place, but the broker told us the high rate, so we dropped it"

"Oh is that so? where is your worshipping place now?"

" Presently we are conducting the sunday worship in a school hall"

"Actually that vacant land is mine, if you want I will sell it to you" he grinned and told my astonishing hubby.

"Thank you very much , sir, I will inform about this to our Head Quarters in Madras, let you know"

"Oh certainly, meanwhile if you can get one bronze cross for me I will pay the cost"

That was the gist of the conversation took place between my husband and the Land owner of the present worshiping place in Eluru. As far as I remember the conversation told by my husband I memorized it and shared the testimony a number of times with many.

If you think that the place was ours just like that you are mistaken, there were still certain wonderful miraculous events took place in between , I saw the hand of God and we praised God for His bountiful graces, and mercies, in dealing with this worshiping place.  Wait for that episode , how God Himself visited us and made things possible in astonishing way.

Can any body imagine that the owner of the land will be sent to our "table",( You prepare a table for me in the presence of  my enemies  Psalms 23:5)  and he himself offer us to sell the place. Is there any thing impossible to God, when we pray for His glory..  what sort of conversation took place later was a miracle, what sort of negotiation was taken place between us was miracle, how this gentleman spoke and dealt with us was miracle, King of Assyria of Old testament came alive into our lives.

The promise I received from His bountiful table was a miracle. The fulfillment of that promise within seconds is a miracle. you cannot read such stories anywhere except in  His Plans for the human lives.

WHEN_GOD_GUIDES_8D: The HOUSE

                The HOUSE: 8D

Money is not the criteria, we can live happily with or without money;  whether you got a good job or no job is not the question.  Money makes many things. It's a bad Master, but it's a good slave.

As long as we trust in the One, the Provider, Jehovah Jireha  'Life is beautiful' --

I tell you no one can have so much of joy , as I do have in my small home.  Even the king in the palace cannot have, if he built it with his gold coins, and  mastermind, and intelligence.

Remember what our Lord said, when He saw the little flowers in the grass? Even King Solomon cannot have this beauty in his palaces.

Matthew 6:28,29---"Observe the lilies of the field.... they do not toil nor do they spin; Yet I say to you that  not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these."

My small cozy little house of 50 years old is a mansion I am living for the past 20 years. My children and children visit this house , our sentiments our love our prayers stick to the walls of this house.

I had to give that Rs.30000/- back to my sister by the end of April month.  We paid the interest on the loan we took on NSCs, on gold, on personal loan, and Cecilia FD, in the month of March, also in the month of April.  We were having a tin shed in front of the house, and a tiles room as kitchen at the back of the house. one old bath room cum toilet outside.

But we have a little ground to till and toil to cultivate vegetables, My husband got golden fingers whatever he plant will yield bountifully. Whereas I do not have that technique or patience to till the ground and plant.  He is an expert in it, like my dad and my daughter. but I used to bring different seeds and seedlings to plant.

So we grew all the vegetables in the little kitchen garden we have. All leafy vegetables, not leaving one variety,  we had a small pendal with the bamboo shoots, we had all the creepers-veg, like snake gourd, beans, bitter gourd, and thumb gourd, and green gourd on that

So everyday I used to have a great fun, to go and search for the veg underneath the pendal just for that day curry.  may be 1/4 kg veg.
We had all varieties of brinjal, and lady fingers, and tamotoe, green chillies, goa fruits, and even banana, , yes I have some of  those photographs with  me I have to post them one of these days.

Like that we lived on purely vegetables for one year. no mutton no chicken, to cut the expenses, we used to buy only dal, milk and oil, that year we got coarse rice from our village, from his parents the land my husband  had.

I did not buy not even one saree, the clothes were limited, I had two white blouses which suit and match on any saree, there were days when I stitch my sarees and used.  I had beautiful red glass bangles, and one roldgold chain.
I never regret for the way we lived, we had a purpose and we lived so.

So in the month of April first week I pulled out a certificate from my little suitcase where we put all documents. I found one , that is, UTI Mutual Fund, certificate.  Its 7500/-  face value.
We bought it because we were told  by one of our college clerks who came and begged us to support her business as she was a  agent of that agency.  Not only that, we bought it because, we needed to pay the tax Rs. 7500/ that year.

Usually we do not go for risks or mutual funds, or stock market etc.  But that year we bought it because we were told if we buy NSCs we had to buy 375000/- worth of those.  But with these UTI mutual funds, if we buy only Rs.7500 , we can avoid the tax that we need to pay. It was permitted by the Government that year.  we bought on 25-3-1992.

I got a funny idea , I wanted to take some loan on it to meet the expenses at home. I thought , even if I get , say, Rs.4000/ on it , it would be a great boon for us.  so taking that certificate I went to the Bank of Baroda, which was in the same lane of our college during one of my leisure hours.

I showed it to the same kind gentleman  clerk and asked him whether I would get any loan on it.
When I first entered into the Bank to ask for a loan in the month of February, my throat shaken, I could not speak audibly feeling a sort of fear, to ask loan, which I never did before.  But after the purchase of the house, I got a little more courage to approach the Bank for further dealings.
I was arguing with my husband that all sorts of debts was a sin according to Deu 28,  only the cursed will have to indulge in debts.  But my husband was trying to teach me  that 'loan' is different from 'debt'... but I did not heed him in those yesteryears.  But as I told you I cannot say no' to his word,  sulking in side I did not make much issue of that matter, in the past years.
But once I started to take 'loan' from the bank , I learned that debt is something we do without any basis , no security of our own, we go and beg people or private financiers to lend us money, and borrow money from others, pleading them.

Which is a cursed thing, which we do by trusting man to help us rather than our own resources or God.
Whereas Loan is something which the bank gives to us, seeing our salary amount, or the savings we have with Government , or capital property like houses or field or gold we have, they lend money to us basing on these property. In case we could not repay back or avoid paying back, the Bank or Government could take away the property we assured with them.  On the other hand the gold or documents will be with them so we have to redeem them by paying the interest and the principle money.
This knowledge I got only after I started to take loan from the bank and post office.
So I think I became an expert now to approach the Bank to inquire about the UTI certificate, and became a little bold enough to ask them about a loan on it.

As usual the gentle clerk ushered me to
Asst. Manager who would enlighten me about the document I took with me.
That person told me, 'Mam, this is UTI bond, I see that you bought in the month of March 1991, now this is April of 1994, it means the Block Period is over on this , now you can Repurchase it. and you will get some money on it.'
I asked him, ' Sir, I do not know what is Block Period. what is it?'

" See you bought March 1991, now it is April 1994,  so by last month three years were over after you purchased, this Bond, it means you can repurchase it'

"Sir, I donot know what you mean by repurchase. What I have to do?'

'Along with this Bond you were given some papers when you purchased this, you just sign on them and send them to the address given in those papers. That is all"

I thanked him and went out, wondering whether I had those papers he said about, at home in my little suitcase'

I told my husband what the Asst. Manager told me and we pulled out the papers from the suitcase.

We studied them, and we both worried a little bit, thinking, in case we sent this bond and the papers, and in case those papers were not return to us, and there wont be any response from the company, because it was in Madras,(Chennai)  what would happen, we will loose even this 7500/-

That was the fear lurking in mind.  My husband said,' Leela we are going to attend a wedding in LEF prayer center in Vijayawada, day after tomorrow, there was UTI office just near by the center, I saw it the other day, in Benz circle center, we will go and ask them also and take their opinion too.'

we went and we climbed many staircases and went into the UTI office and asked a clerk into the Bond with us, and he showed us where to sign and send those and helped us to fill up the form precisely.

Wondering we should not loose the document; to be on safe side,  after we came home we sent the Bond and the papers in registered post after we got the true copy of those documents.
All this was happened in the second week of April.

I did not have a single idea how we were going to give the money back to my sister,  neither  we had any idea of these or other financial matters.  but we were trusting in the Lord. Trusting means, just leaning upon His bosom and taking rest.

That was the last week of April, I had no invigilation that day, and he got week -end holiday,  it was Saturday.  He lied down on a small cot in the Tin shed, I sat on the door ground post and talking something which was not very important.

Then a postman came and told us,"On the name Mrs Leelavathi you have a Registered post"

I signed it and took the cover, it was from UTI office, I opened it, and I could not believe my own eyes.

What I spoke to my husband, how I thank God, for His mercies, could not have any language to explain.
Do you know how much was that Cheque?
Do you know how much my 7500 bond increased and sent to us?

We both could not believe our own eyes,  it was for Rs. 27000/-
I exclaimed ," Emandi, Jesus did a miracle He increased, 5 loaves of bread, and 2 fish, "
I was grinning, and he was too.    I told him, "I will go to Andhra Bank (which was near by in our neighborhood,)  and give this cheque and come.  I had my cheppals, (home wear shoes) and flew into the bank, because the bank will be closed by 12 am as it was only half day work for them on Saturday.

The clerk was kind enough to tell me that we could take the cash on Monday.

My joy knew no bounds, My Lord , My Father in Heaven Hallowed His name... He was my Redeemer, My Fortress, My Dad...to take care of me/us.

Life at every turn gives us tests and blanks. we need to face them and lean upon Him, He will never put us to shame.
We added remaining Rs.3000+ the meager interest we asked to pay from our salary and sent the money to my sister.
God would never abandon us. Believe it. you will see miracles in life.  Faith is something with or without money. Faith is believing in Him. Faith is without our intelligence, our own schemes and plans.

In college every body got to know about this wonderful and bountiful yield of this UTI bond, because even the other Lecturer in commerce,         Mrs. Uttama Durga got that yield as she went for repurchase after seeing me and she told every one. Therefore some other lecturers also bought some bonds that year, but they did not get the profit, on the other hand they had some loss, I was told by           Mrs. Padma Botany lecturer years later.
So do not trust in the Mutual Fund Bonds, but in the Lord who loves us and takes care of us all the time.

WHEN_GOD_GUIDES_8C: The HOUSE

                The HOUSE: 8C

So we were given an ultimatum that we should pay the full amount of Rs 180000/- at once on 28th of Febraury, 1994 and get registered.  Or else we can forgo our claims to negotiate to buy the house..

The Manager of the Baroda Bank told me I will not get any loan because the house is too old above
10 years old. This is 25 years old.

I asked for the loan on 14th Febraury.  So what to do? I asked the same question "Sir, then what to do? I need to purchase this house before 28th of this month."
I know this is the house God want me to buy, I wont go for any other one for sure.

" Mam' may be you will get  a personal loan, but for that we cannot help you in any other way."

" How much you will give , Sir?"

"Rs. 10000/-"

"Ok, Sir, when will you give that amount?"

( God will help me certainly, So far He is leading me, He will lead me further..I am sure of it)

" Fill up these papers, and get your salary ceritificate tomorrow and we will pay you tomorrow itself, mam'"

I got up from the seat, went to college.
The next day he gave me Rs. 10000/-

I asked him further this time,
"Sir I have 4 gold bangles and one gold chain. Can you give me some loan on it?"

"yes mam' we can give an agriculture loan to you for lesser interest, do you have any agriculture land?"
Yes, sir, we have a small piece of land on my husband name in his native village."

"Ok, taking your word for assurance we will release the amount tomorrow on your gold, say, Rs.10000/-"
Next day I went and received the total of                     Rs.20000/-

We lecturers were used to buy NSC-Certificates to evade the tax we had to pay on our salary.
Eg. when we need to pay Rs. 5000/- tax, if we show 25000/- value certificates that amount of 5000 need not be paid for tax. But we cannot redeem them before 6 years until they are matured to the double amount , in those days, because we bought those for the purpose of Tax elimination with Government permission.
But I was told that I can opt for a loan on those certificates. Not knowing what to do and how to do, I went to the same bank and inquired the same clerk who was kind enough to advise me to meet the Manager.  He told me that I need to go to Post office where I purchased them through an agent, and ask them to give some loan. He counted the face value of those certificates which comes to Rs. 75000/-

The same day my husband and myself went to different post offices, like Ashoknagar, Venkatarao , and Narasimha Rao post  Offices.  In Narasamiha Rao post
We had a strange incident with a gentle man who was tall and fair in white attire, the Post Master.
We were taken into the inner chamber of the post office and made us to sit comfortably, got two cups of tea for us, and inquired about our purchase of the house.

He said, " I am like your father, I want to give you some good advice. I see that you are buying an old house, do not try to destroy it or do not be  hasty to build a new one. See I did the same thing and I built a very big house, but my children are grown up and they cannot stay with me due to the jobs they are doing in different places. Even if they come they could stay with me a few days, or at the most for a fortnight , not more than that.  I am getting old and it has become a great burden for me to maintain the house as it is a big house. Do not do like me. For one year do not try to do anything with that house. Just keep it as it is. Later,  after you could pay the interests on the loans you made, and redeem the loans, by and by, then you can think of repairing it or renovating it, slowly. This is my advise to you as an elderly person of father age."

It was just like my own dad was with me and telling me what to do and what not to do.  He was so kind and gentle we took his good advice at once. He redeemed our certificates and gave us the cash.

All together on our NSC certificates we got Rs.45000/- on loan.so 45000 +20000=65000

My friend Cecilia who was a physical directress used to come with me to the Bank while I was going for personal loan and Gold loan, because she had classes only after the college academic hours , she was free to accompany me.
One day, on our way to the Bank, she said like this,
" Leela, I understand you need some money to buy this house, I have Rs.10000/- in the bank as Fixed deposit, I would like to lend it to you, but will you pay the interest I am getting in the bank every month, until you repay the money to me?"

Can you imagine my surprise? I never know that she would lend money like this, without me asking her. She herself was a widow, and living in a small rented house, trying to save every pie for the higher education of her only son.

I was so grateful to her and accepted her offer. so 65000+10000=75000

That day I went to college as usual to sign in the register, I lifted my eyes and saw a notice on the board. A notice of that kind was never put on before or after wards in our college.
Its notice from IOB ( Indian Oversees Bank)  It says, WWW  Working women welfare - fund.  It was written that they were ready to give Rs.10000/- loan to the working women instantly, any body can apply for it bringing salary certificate from the employer.

My joy knew no bounds, I got one from the Principal, and went home and informed my husband who came for lunch
( he got transfer to Eluru, which was another great story to be shared shortly)
We both went immediately to Over Seas Bank in
1 town area, there was the cashier whom I knew since my childhood, I knew he was working in a bank but did not know that he was in that bank. His name was Aruna kumar, his sister Shobha and me were childhood friends, as his dad also was Police Officer, he and my dad worked in the same towns three times, and lived in the bungalows side by side. in Bandar, Guntur Eluru etc..
But his sister and me were so afraid of him because he was much older to us, and used to hit us on our heads, as he was thinking that we were wasting time all the time by playing in the ground.

so as I know him well ,when I saw him I was so happy , and I introduced my husband to him, and told him that I came to claim for a loan on www.
He was kind enough and did the work within minutes and handed over the cash to us. We thanked him immensely and reached home

           .75000+10000=85000

My friend and my financial adviser Mrs. Umadevi, Lecturer in History asked me whether I pooled out all the money, when I told her I did and I still need some Rs.30000/- for registration expenditure and other things.
She said , " your youngest sister is working in Andhra Bank and your brother-in-law in Bank of India, cant they get some loan on their name and give to you so that you can repay them? "

I saw this advice was very good advice, so I went home and shared this piece of information with my husband, so that day we called her and told her our need and requested her whether she could get some loan on her name and give to us , and we will repay the interest and the principal money within short period of time...

.She answered," O Leelakka, as it is we are in deep debts, you know we hardly get money as salary to bring home, as we bought the gas stove and fridge and all the things on installments and our salary is being cut all together, we hardly can help you."

This is the sister for whose marriage we spent all our salary for her wedding as my dad was in need of money, in those days.
I was so disappointed, but as usual as the eldest of the three sisters, I demanded, " hey you have to help me otherwise who will help me , you being the banker you have to do something , we are coming to Jony's marriage tomorrow, please try to get some help."
After an hour or so she called me back and told me that some one in her office is in habit of lending money to good party, when they could pay the Bank interest. And he is willing to give us Rs. 30000/- but that money should be re-payed by the end of the April month.

I was happy knowing very well, that the faithful God would help me to repay her money in due time. He is the one who would do wonders and He is my father. He would not put me to shame.  Knowing this, by faith I accepted the offer. How I would pay I did not know but I would repay it. I have faith in Him.

It was 27th Febraury, the next day we will get the house registered.  I was signing in the college register, one of our good friends Ms. Rajyalaxmi, Head of History Department, asked me

,'Leela when is the house registration?"

I said, 'Tomorrow Miss"

She sat on the sofa, I too made my place beside hers.

She said," You  always say you would not give any bribes, but in case of house registration you have to give bribe, without paying bribe they would not register the house. "

My heart just stopped at once, I was shocked,

"what Miss, is it real? without bribe they do not register?" my face was pale, and I said, very slowly and steadily, "Miss, if.. if it is not possible to register the house ,..... yes,... I will cancel the registration of the house ,....Miss.." I said so in a pensive mood, and sat there for some time even after she left for her class.

I went home and knelt down at my bed side, I poured my heart, what I prayed, how I prayed I do not remember, but I was in deep agony which cannot be explained. How much time I was in His presence I do not remember now.
But one thing I remember very clearly, the Word of God was in front of me, my Lord speaks to me through His word, He consoles me by His word, He heals my ruptured heart with His word, He comforts me with His word, he erases all my fears with His word.

Numbers 11:18 to 35--Its my daily portion from ODB- You know what it is about?

The Israelites were crying for the meat, and God heard of their wailing and called Moses and told him to feed them with the meat. Not one day, or two days, not even 5 days, or 10 or 20 days, I will give them for one month, go and tell them.'
Then Moses was asking God, 'Lord I am among these people who are more than 6 lakh people, how can you give so much meat to them? Should I kill all the goats, and cattle?  Should I gather all the fish in the oceans?---

Then the Lord answered him like this, verse 23, "Is the Lord's arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true to you"This was my promise.

Later, they ate quails which were brought by the wind till it came out of their nostrils and loathed it, and still the meat was in between their teeth they were struck with plague.

Yes His arm was not short.. that was my promise.

(in between another incident happened those who want to read it can search for "when we prattle foolishly " to see what God did with water tap in our house.)

So on 28th Febraury we went to the Registrar office, I wanted to go along with him into the house, I used to feel that I should be with him to give him moral support. but he told me,

"Leela , you stand at the scooter under this tree, and pray for the registration go smoothly"

It was my custom to obey him without another word. So I stood there and was praying, after an hour or so he came out with a grin on his face.

He told me, " Leela, nobody asked me for bribe, I took New Testament Bibles in my suitcase , and I distributed those to them and came"

We got our house registered on 28th February, 1994.
You want to know how I re-payed that Rs.30000/- back to my sister in the month of April? Its not an ordinary story.. There again the Lord was there and He extended His hand and wiped away the shame on our faces, we were His children, who could make us to feel ashamed?

Faith walks in real sense, it is there when we were in rags or in costly apparel, You will have no words to speak when you know how we got that amount , we never asked any one, nor stopped to pay our regular interest payments in different banks and post offices, while we were doing so we were able to pay that amount.

Wait for the next episode... Prayer makes everything possible.

WHEN_GOD_GUIDES_8B: The House

The HOUSE: 8B

The Lord loves each one of us, He wants to tell us what is the best , His best for us. If we ask Him He will reveal it to us. Because He never like to be pushy even for our good. He wants us to learn to go to Him and learn of Him. Remember His Best is The Best. Even if we have the whole world in our hands we would never get that safety, joy and peace in our heart and lives as it would be in obeying in His will.

'We were searching for the houses, to buy and also for the site where we can build a house.  In one instance we were cheated, we paid Rs 1000/ as an advance, Mr. Aurthur and my friend, and his wife Mrs kamala Swarna Kumari both came to check up the house, and gave us a friendly and elderly advice, "better you forego your advance rather than investing big amount on this house, which is not worthy to buy.'
We with draw, our bid over that house at the loss of Rs.1000/- taking their advice.  Some times fully knowing that we have to do the will of God, still the ego in our heart goes its own way, which look like human understanding and human intelligence, which would land us in mud ultimately. In such times,  God in His mercy pull us out of that mud through some friendly advice or pulling us literally out of the fire like a burnt coal.
So we were praying claiming the promises we have at His feet.  We saw a house near our college ( Panchayathi area)  which is in a600 sq yards but a small house with one room and a kitchen in it. The owner of the house was a State Bank officer.  We were negotiating with him and it was almost to come to a final decision. But in those days we did not have mobiles or even land line phone, it was very difficult to contact people. so we were waiting for his final word for our bidding.
In one of those days , that is 1994, Febrauary 1st week, I was going to college by walk, as I had a little more time to spare, just to save some money on rikshaw.  I was having so much of problems with money matters. I had to cut all my expenses, my husband was getting half of my salary even though he was Central Government employee, as I was in the habit of giving away every single pie of my salary to him, I was facing many troubles in my life. But I took all of them with low profile.  I used to buy only one saree per year, and used to wear white blouse on every saree to reduce the expenditure on buying the matching blouses, and stitching charges.
While I was walking to college, suddenly I felt I must stop at one of our church comer, Mrs Jhansi, a state bank officer in our town. I thought I must ask her to enquire about the owner of the hosue which we were negotiating to buy.   So I truned one step to right side and reached a small wicket gate, and about to call her, but I saw her brother, Mr Jacob Wesley was talking to her standing out side of their house in the compound premises. Seeing him I took a step back, feeling I should not disturb them, knowing he is strict disciplinarian and not much in good terms with us as he used to feel much above our cadre, those days. But as they saw me approaching the gate I  quickly I told Jhansi about my issue and requested her, 'Can you please ask such and such person to contact us to finalise the issue about the house purchase.
Blurting out my words, I left the gate , and rushed to college.  Never we expected that what happened that evening.  Mr. Jacob's knephew came to our house and told us," Uncle and Aunty my uncle Mr. Jacob  asking you both come and meet him today after an hour"
We were conducting the sunday worship in his school hall, so we used to give him respect, we thought may be he had some problem faced with the sunday worship service. As often he being a strict disciplinarian, any church goer make any mistake like forgetting to close the door, we were taken into task, so we thought may be it was one of those reasons he was asking us to come.
We went to meet him.  Unlike the other days, he was so gentle in speaking to us and called us into his home and started to talk to us.
" This morning sister ( its me) called upon my sister Jhansi in search a house to purchase;  Are you searching for a house to buy?"
I took initiative to answer him, because I was the one who talked that morning, " Yes, brother, we are trying to buy a house of her colleague in Sanivarapet Panchayat. which is very near to our college."
He answered back, " Brother, I am trying to buy a house for my sister Jhansi, I have done all the prelimanaries , I have all the documents of the hosue, It is Rs.1,80000/-.  The owner is asking for Rs.90000/- as an advance and give the rest of the Rs. 90000/- after 6 months to get registered.  When I told my sister, she is so 'adamant' and saying she cannot pay that much amount as advance but saying she could pay only Rs.10000/- for which the owner of the hosue is not willing.  I will try to get that house for you if you are interested.
I said,' Thank you very much brother, for your concern, because Jhansi is not willing to buy, we can buy, actually we have only Rs.90000/- with us now.
he immediatly said,' God will take care of the rest."
I was happy to hear that, ' where is this house brother?'
He told us the location, immediatly we both realized that the house he was talking about is none other than the house we saw last year 1993 April.  Then it was told it would cost more than Rs.200000/- At that time we had only Rs.40000/- which I saved when I got some arrearers in the college.  In this past year btween April 1993 to 1994 February another Rs.50000/- is added to that by saving and by some more arrears I got, in the college.

So I see the hand of God in this bargain, so I was all in smiles while I was talking to him.  He said, that he is all in all to help us, and he would definitely get the house be purchased by us. And he will not sleep until he would get that house for us. He himself promised us, as if my own my dad was alive he would take this issue so kindly.and concerning.

We came back to home, and we talked for a few minutes how God changed Mr. jacob  in this case, to be so kind and concern.   Then we both knelt down, before retiring to bed that night. I still remeber the place where we knelt down, to tell the Lord what was in our heart.  He prayed sincerely about the house, and asked the Lord if it is His will He would guide us in this matter."  But what I prayed , I remember very well. Point to Point. everything I asked Him.
I cannot forget one single word what I prayed, that night.

"Lord, We want to buy a house at this moment, because you know how many troubles we are facing in this matter. Lord by your grace you have given the status to us, to build a good house. but if we start to build a house, your servant , my husband , will spend whole time in purchase of sand, cement, and steel instead of spending his time , energy in  Your kingdom, in your service. .
      So tell us, Lord,
         1) should we build or buy a house?
2)/should we buy the house which is near the college that is in Panchayat, or this house in Ashoknagar, Muncipality of Eluru
( I was more interested in buying the house nearby college, as I knew how difficult it was to spend money on rickshaw, even when I get old, I can go by walk to college )
         3) Lord both houses are so old , if we spend all our savings on these old houses, and the ceiling would not lost for long, and walls crack further, what will happen.
Lord  tell us should we buy or build a house?
If we buy a house which house you want us to buy , the house in Panchayath or Muncipality?
Even if we buy these old house how many years would it lost?
        4) Will you please give us guarantee for these houses Lord?"
I finished my prayer knowing that God heard my prayer. I know it.  That is all that I knew. He heard my prayer, and He would tell me what we have to do.

When we pray in the Spirit, we would pray in such a way which we never think what we pray.

Romans 8:26--"We do not know what we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us...
."Luke 21:15  The Holy Spirit will give you both words, and matter, in the same hour, instantly and immediately.
" The Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should you say"

Yes, I prayed so, and we retired to beds that night with a PEACE in my heart, which is beyond understanding, which gaurdes our minds and hearts.
When we have such PEACE the whole world would be in our palm as we are in His palm.
Next day I was reading my daily bible portion, It was month of February 1994, I cam to the Book of Leviticus 25 th chapter, I was reading slowly and steadily, when I come to the verse 30th , I was shocked, I found answeres to all my four questions, in ONE  SENTENCE. Levi 25:30---
My Telugu verstion is more to my heart, more clear to me. Its my mother tongue and I got the answer at once, I wonder how far I can do justice to this in English, Let me put the verse here.

"If it is not bought within a year, and If there is a buyer of the  house in the walled town, it will become the permanent property to the buyer throughout generations, ( children's children) It shall not go in the Jubilee"

What? 1 ) question of mine... should I buy or build?
Answer was:
If there is a buyer of the house, BUYER..
          2) WHICH  HOUSE??
Answer was ----If it was not bought within an year"--- I counted immediately... Last year 1993 April... now it is 1994 February 9th.
One year not yet over, it was not redeemed within this one year. The HOUSE within THE WALLED TOWN?  Yes this house in Ashoknagar is in Muncipality, TOWN OF ELURU.  God is telling me to buy this house in the town , not the house near the college, which is in Panchayath... OOOOh wonderful God, Ohho wonderful God How can I praise Thee Lord!!

God is giving me gaurantee for generations, children and children, this is the answer to my next question, Will there be gaurantee, should I invest all my hard earned savings on this OLD house?  The answer is it will be there for children to children,  and God answered further, It shall not go in the Jubilee.

JUBILEE,  Jubilee,? what is it? 50 years life.. for the building, Ok they are saying that this house was built 25 years back, ok Lord even if it is 30 years, another 20 years you are giving gaurantee, oh 20 years, by then where I will be? where my children will be? My daugher Happy was in 7th class, and son John was in 5th class, 12 years and John 10 and 1/2 years old.  so in jubilee  where they would be, ( Oh my Lord, This year February this house completed 20 years that is Jubilee, my daughter is in USA and son is in AUSTRALIA...) Great God Great God, He is mighty God.
So the house was which I was going to buy was almost in ruines, one tin shed in front, one tiles shed at the back hardly three rooms, with a big hole in the ceiling where the bats dwell, and the doors were hallow ones for the mouses,  the floors were having pits all over, But still I determined to go to buy. Because the Lord had given green signal in a wonderful way.
Meanwhile the owner of the house was annoyed with Mr. jacob and said to him, that, first he brought his sister to buy and now he brought another party to buy, what is all this, and he said he would not sell it for Rs.180000/- but only for 200000/- I do not know what made Mr. Jacob Wesley to go to Hyderabad on behalf of us, to plead him to come down to 180000? I do not know but he went with Joe his youngest son to the house of his eldest son Joshua and met the owner Srinivas and convinced him to fix the rate to 180000. Meanwhile God had given a promise that the house will be for 185000/ Isaiah 37:36 I did not understand about this number, but in the course of the conversation to my husband I said, "Emendi  will surely come down to 180000/ and may be 5000 extra for something" Immediately he said, its written in Isaiah in case of Assyrian army, right? I was looking at him with wide eyes, and smiled at him.
Things will be so beautiful and we will never know what would happen how would happen in such sweet manner.

They came back on 13th February, 1994 and asked us to come to their home, Joe arranged two mikes to the land line and asked us to sit with them in their hall. Mr. Welsey called Srinivas, he was telling him , "Ok first you told us this house is for your sister, now you want to purchase it for another party, sir, Though I wanted to sell it for 200000 you asked me to reduce it 180000 for much loss for me, even that I accepted, but now one thing I want to tell you,  ask the party to pay the full amount of 180000 at once that too at the end of this month that is on 28th February 1994, and get the house registered, I have no more patience to wait upon. If they cannot get registered the house on my terms, ask them to leave it off. and please do not disturb me any more." He hung up the phone.
What it i 13th hardly we have much time, one fortnight only.  How we can get that much of money within this short period?  who will give us? we do not go for debts. But the promise of God Levi 25:30 is shining in front of my eye lids.
The next day I went to Bank of Baroda where our salaries deposit every month by the UGC.( University Grants Commission) first time in my life to ask any one for financial help. My throat was shaking, there was a kind clerk who used to do our work fast whenever we go to bank knowing we went there between the classes.
when I asked him he ushered me to the manager room. I told the manager about my need.
The first question was, " You are telling me this house you want to buy is old house, how old it is madam"
"25 years Sir"
He laughed , a bit louder, I was puzzled, may be he laughed seeing my ignorance. " We will not give any loan for old houses if they exceed 10 years madam"
I was shocked, I said , but you gave to Swarna Kamala garu my friend, 4 lakhs, I reminded him"   He said, " Madam they are buying a site to build a house" we will give for such transactions..Even for you we will give if you want to buy new house, or a vacant land"

You will be surprised, why I did not quit this bid, I as well go for new house or a vacant land to build a house. But the promise I got in Levi 25:30 is very clear, that I should go for this house in Ashoknagar.
I will tell you how I got the rest of the money... in the next chapter, You will be astonished how God will make things possible in miraculous way. Only to those who talk and listen to His voice it could be witnessed.. wait for that chapter.
